Belinda Chandra

When the TARDIS doors open, you can either scream, faint, or roll your eyes. Belinda chose option four: sarcasm.

Character Overview

Belinda Chandra joined the Doctor during the Fifteenth’s era, and unlike some companions who tumble in by accident, she practically walked in like she owned the place. Sharp, witty, and more than a little skeptical, Belinda brings the kind of dry humor that pairs perfectly with Ncuti Gatwa’s flamboyant Doctor. She’s the friend who will happily jump into adventure — but not before pointing out that the plan sounds really stupid, and probably won’t work.

Belinda has a background in journalism, which means she’s nosy by trade and tends to poke her nose into everything from alien dictatorships to the Doctor’s highly suspicious definition of “a quick trip.” This also means she asks the awkward questions no one else thinks of — the kind that make villains squirm and the Doctor mutter “well, technically…”

What sets her apart is her refusal to be impressed. Daleks? Overgrown pepperpots. Weeping Angels? Creepy garden decorations. The Master? Just another man who needs therapy. Where other companions gape in awe, Belinda breaks out the sarcasm like it’s her sonic screwdriver.

She’s also fiercely loyal — though she’d never admit it out loud — and has proven herself quick-thinking in tight corners. In fact, half of the Fifteenth Doctor’s victories so far could be traced back to Belinda saying, “That’s a stupid idea, here’s a better one.” She’s the grounding presence this Doctor needs, and the banter between them makes even the dullest alien corridor sparkle.

In short: Belinda wasn’t just the latest passenger aboard the TARDIS; she was the one making sure the Doctor didn’t fly it straight into a black hole while humming show tunes.
