Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror

Nikola Tesla invents Wi-Fi, gets chased by space scorpions, and Thomas Edison is still kind of a jerk.

Short Synopsis

The Doctor and fam team up with Nikola Tesla in 1903 when his experiments attract the attention of the Skithra, alien scavengers who want to use his brainpower for their own tech-thieving empire. With Thomas Edison getting dragged into the mess (and proving capitalism is just as deadly as aliens), the Doctor has to outwit the Skithra Queen before humanity loses one of its greatest minds.

Extended Storyline

We begin with Nikola Tesla — brilliant, eccentric, and perpetually broke — tinkering away at his laboratory in New York. He’s showing off his wireless energy ideas when something goes zap. That zap? Oh, just a transmission from the Skithra, a race of alien scavengers who’ve decided Tesla would make a nifty unpaid intern. Seconds later, he’s running for his life, pursued by glowing green alien orbs and one particularly nasty Skithra drone.

Enter the Doctor, crashing onto the scene with Graham, Yaz, and Ryan in tow. She rescues Tesla mid-panic, immediately fangirling over his genius, and whisks him off in the TARDIS. Tesla, naturally, thinks she’s the only person who’s ever taken him seriously, which, in fairness, is true.

The Skithra, however, don’t give up that easily. They set their sights on Tesla’s Wardenclyffe Tower — his dream project for broadcasting energy wirelessly — which they plan to hijack as their personal Uber signal booster. The Doctor, smelling a proper alien invasion, knows they have to stop the Skithra before history gets rewritten in scorpion-shaped footprints.

Cue the entrance of Thomas Edison, Tesla’s longtime rival and poster boy for “patents over progress.” Edison is less “brilliant inventor” and more “smug capitalist with good PR.” Naturally, when the Skithra attack, he assumes it’s Tesla’s fault — because why not blame the guy who’s already broke? Still, Edison gets dragged along in the chaos, with the Doctor alternately scolding him for his greed and using his resources because hey, he does have a lot of backup generators.

The Skithra Queen finally shows up, and let’s just say she’s not subtle. Imagine an alien scorpion doing community theatre in full pantomime villain mode, and you’re close. She shrieks, she hisses, she demands Tesla as her shiny new toy. (Honestly, she could’ve just asked him nicely; he probably would’ve said yes for food and rent money.)

But the Doctor, Tesla, and the fam rally for a defense. They rig Wardenclyffe Tower into a massive energy weapon, planning to zap the Skithra right back into space. Edison whines about cost efficiency, Graham cracks jokes, Yaz helps Tesla keep his nerve, and Ryan… mostly tries not to get fried.

The climax is suitably flashy: the tower powers up, the skies light with energy, and the Skithra ship is blasted into retreat. Tesla, for once, gets to feel like the hero. Of course, history being what it is, Edison immediately goes back to undermining him, investors stay away, and Tesla’s future remains tragically bleak. The Doctor can’t change that — she can only give him a brief taste of the recognition he deserves.

As Tesla gazes up at the stars, inspired but resigned, the Doctor gives him her signature encouragement: his ideas will change the world, even if he never gets the credit. It’s a bittersweet ending, because we know she’s right — but Tesla will never see it.
