Creepy village, flickering streetlamps, and Angels who’ve unionized into a full-scale invasion. Sweet dreams!
Short Synopsis
The Doctor, Yaz, and Dan land in 1967 where a psychic girl is drawing Weeping Angels everywhere — and then they show up in person. Soon the whole village is under siege, people vanish into the past, and the Angels reveal they’re hunting the Doctor herself.
Extended Storyline
We open with Claire — remember her? The woman from episode one who greeted the Doctor like an old friend before being zapped by an Angel? Well, she’s back, stuck in 1967 under the watch of Professor Jericho, a scientist doing psychic experiments. Claire’s visions are not just creepy — they’re basically the plot outline for the apocalypse. And in her head? A Weeping Angel has taken up residence like the world’s worst Airbnb guest.
The Doctor, Yaz, and Dan arrive just as the Angels turn their flickering gaze on the whole village of Medderton. Cue the paranoia: drawings come alive, TV static spits out Angel faces, and stone statues shuffle closer whenever you blink. It’s the full horror package, and the villagers are understandably useless in dealing with it.
Dan and Yaz do their best Scooby-Doo routine, getting separated and wandering around dark country lanes while Angels stalk them. The Doctor, meanwhile, realizes that Claire is actually a trap — the Angels are using her as bait. These aren’t just any Angels either. This is an entire extraction squad, working for the Division, the mysterious Time Lord black-ops group connected to the Doctor’s forgotten past.
As night falls, the siege intensifies. Angels close in on the Professor’s house, tearing through walls and turning every escape route into a nightmare. The imagery is vintage Moffat horror: shadows twitch, statues creep, and every “don’t blink” lands with a punch. The Doctor tries to hold the line with technobabble forcefields, but she’s badly outnumbered.
Villagers start disappearing back through time at random, proving once again that living in a small English village is basically a death sentence in Doctor Who. Yaz and Dan get zapped to 1901, stumbling into the same village decades earlier — empty, eerie, and waiting for its Angel occupation to be completed. Because of course time loops are involved.
The tension builds to the real twist: the Angels don’t just want to snack on villagers. They’ve turned on their own kind, sacrificing an Angel fugitive who sought the Doctor’s help. That fugitive’s crime? Knowing too much about the Division. And because poetic irony is the Angels’ favorite weapon, they don’t just attack the Doctor. They recruit her.
The cliffhanger lands with a gut-punch: the Doctor turns to stone, wings unfurling from her back, transformed into a Weeping Angel. Not metaphorically. Literally. Roll credits. Childhood traumas everywhere reawakened.
