The Abominable Snowmen

Nothing says “holiday in Tibet” like giant Yeti, a haunted monastery, and a sinister glowing pyramid that wants to eat your soul.

Short Synopsis

The Doctor, Jamie, and Victoria arrive in the Himalayas only to find Yetis terrorizing monks, a possessed abbot, and a spooky alien intelligence called the Great Intelligence. Spoiler: the Yeti aren’t real — they’re robo-fuzzballs of doom.

Extended Storyline

The TARDIS lands in the Himalayas because, apparently, the Doctor’s idea of a good time is freezing his companions half to death on mountain slopes. He’s here to return a sacred bell to the Det-Sen Monastery, because even the Time Lord equivalent of a cosmic hobo likes to drop off his overdue library books occasionally.

Unfortunately, his timing is terrible. The monastery is currently under attack by Yetis — big, furry creatures that look suspiciously like men in awkward, fluffy costumes (because, well… they are). Locals blame the Doctor immediately, because in Doctor Who logic, if you turn up near a massacre, clearly you’re responsible for everything from missing sheep to collapsing mountains.

Inside the monastery, things are getting weirder. Abbot Songsten has fallen under the control of a disembodied alien entity known only as the Great Intelligence. (Not to be confused with the Regularly Scheduled Idiocy of most human villains.) The GI has taken a particular interest in using mechanical Yetis as its shock troops, because when you’re an incorporeal energy blob, why not go for style points?

Jamie and Victoria stumble around in the snow, mostly screaming, while the Doctor investigates the monastery’s “mystical” troubles. He quickly works out that the Yeti are just robots in fur coats — sort of like metallic Labradoodles with murder programming. Naturally, this revelation does not make them any less terrifying.

The Great Intelligence’s plan? Simple: conquer the Earth by slowly taking over people’s minds and hiding behind fake Tibetan mythology. Because if you’re going to enslave humanity, why not do it in the most convoluted, theatrical way possible?

The Doctor and Jamie do their usual thing: dismantling furry murder-bots, exposing the possessed abbot, and fiddling with pyramid-shaped alien tech until it explodes in a spectacularly “oops, science happened” fashion. Eventually, the Yetis collapse, the Great Intelligence is banished (for now), and the monks breathe a collective sigh of relief… right before the Doctor scampers back to the TARDIS, leaving them to clean up the mess.
